Have you thought about the cross lately?
Today even? Not the cross that is around your neck or hanging on the wall, not the cross that is beautifully crafted, displayed in your church or the in the pieces of stained glass that keep many of us warm as we sit in our climate controlled buildings and worship on Sundays… but the rugged cross, the one that was dragged through the city streets up the Hill of the Skull (Golgotha), with its porous wood grains soaking up the life giving blood that came from the only innocent man that ever walked the Earth?
Have you thought about this cross lately? I think at times, we minimize what happened on that day. If we focus our attentions on what Jesus did for us, our hearts would be more open and willing, when He calls us to step out in faith.
He has blessed us to be a blessing to others:
Matthew 5:16 ESV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Philippians 2:1-4 ESV
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Luke 6:31 ESV
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
